2017 Draft for North Avenue Urban Renewal

3-13-17 DRAFT City of Grand Junction North Avenue Urban Renewal Plan

We as NAOA have once again created a plan for creating a Urban renewal plan.

“Infrastructure and public safety benefitting existing taxpayers should be a priority over businesses coming here or threatening to leave. We represent the people that love this community and choose to be here. Focusing on what is positive and makes our community better for existing residents, will make us more attractive to people wanting to move their families and their businesses here.” ~Poppy Woody, President North Avenue Owners Association

City Offering Grants for North Avenue

$100,000 available to assist North Avenue businesses

GRAND JUNCTION, CO   January 13, 2015 – The City of Grand Junction is offering grants to assist North Avenue businesses with improvements to their facilities. City Council authorized $50,000 in 2014 and an additional $50,000 in 2015 for this program. The “North Avenue Catalyst Program” offers grants of up to $10,000 to be used for façade and site improvements, and pedestrian safety and streetscape improvements. All grants require a 50% match.

All nongovernmental commercial property owners abutting North Avenue are eligible. Applications will be reviewed by a committee and assessed based on visual impact on the surrounding environment. Improvements must be permanent to receive grant funding. Awards are limited to one per property, and work must be completed within twelve months of approval.
